Mary Margaret Simon, 81, of Leesburg, Fla., was born July 11, 1931 and died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 after a brief illness; surrounded by her family. A native of London, England, Mary met the love of her life, Bill, in 1952 when he was stationed in England. A devoted Air Force wife, Mary, Bill and family traveled extensively until Bill retired in 1971 when they moved to Carlisle. Since 1984, they have lived in the Leesburg, Fla. area.
She was immediate past president of LRMC Auxiliary, Leesburg with 18,000 volunteer hours; manager at LRMC Thrift Shop for eight years and co-buyer at LRMC gift shop for six years. She loved reading and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill Simon of Leesburg, Fla.; children, Linda (Bill) Shirley of Carlisle, Steve (Paula) Simon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Laura (Philip) Tantillo of Marina, Calif., and David (Lorrie) Simon of Newville, Pa.; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Audrey (Fuad) Shabi of Chester, England.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg, Fla. with the Reverend Danny Harvey officiating.
