WONDER LAKE - Mary Ann Stott, 67, of Wonder Lake, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 26, 1938, in Duluth, Minn., to Bernard C. and Anne F. (Verbick) Esse. On Sept. 21, 1957, she married Allen G. Stott Sr. in Chicago.
Formerly of Chicago, she was a resident of Wonder Lake since 1974. She enjoyed being a busy homemaker, and raising six children as a mother. She will be remembered for her love of sharing the Christmas holiday season with others through the extensive decorating of her home.
She planned Christmas Day as a family event annually. It was an event not to be missed, since she prepared a several-course meal. A year ago, despite suffering from health problems, she completed a 29-day trip traveling throughout 11 states into Mexico, accompanied by some of her family members.
She was a member of the Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry, and a member of Women of the Moose since 1974. Her enjoyments included playing bingo, trivia games, traveling to casinos, playing cards, playing golf, playing the piano and bowling. She took pride in making wedding cakes for family and friends, civic volunteering, including voter registration and working at the polls.
Survivors include six children, Allen (Shannon) Stott Jr. of Harvard, Marilyn (Henry) Donta of McHenry, Charmaine (Michael) Suberla of Friendship, Wis., Kevin (Debby) Stott of Amasa, Mich., Nannette Stott of Baraboo, Wis., and Bernadine (Randy) Robinson of Wilmot, Wis.; 19 grandchildren, Allen III, Kevin, Bernard, David, Daniel, Tessa, Corri, Matthew, Michelle, Michael, Nathan, Anthony, Frank, Ricky, Jesse, Christopher, Zachary, Collin and Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Jannessa and Madison; and a sister-in-law, Wendy (John) Simmons of Las Vegas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Stott Sr., on Dec. 2, 2002; and a daughter, Sharon Stott.
The visitation will be from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday May 4, 2005, at George R. Justen & amp; Son Funeral Home, 3519 West Elm St., McHenry. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Thursday, May 5, until the 10 a.m. procession from the funeral home to the funeral Mass celebration at 11 a.m. at the Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry. The Rev. Robert Sherry will officiate.
Interment will be in the Church of Holy Apostle Cemetery in McHenry.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society, in care of Janet Smith, 200 S. Green St., McHenry, would be appreciated by the family. For information, call the funeral home at (815) 385-2400.
