One year on and the memories are still rich. The loss no easier to take. My memories are of you in the kitchen having quiet times cooking , sitting beside the fire toasting yourself, and your love of a great belly laugh. This brought gales of laughter from my children as they watched you roar laughing but funnier was your belly wobble. There are many more memories too numerous to mention.I love you and miss you mum, your loving daughter, Fiona

Dear Mary and Family
I was sorry to read of the death of your mother - I certainly have very fond memories of both her and your late father. The great outings they used to take us on, up the mountains and skating on the tarn. Please accept my deepest condolences to you all. It was lovely to read all the grandchildren's memories - she certainly was a much loved grandma.

Dear Granny Thorburn,
Although We did not know you as well as others, we loved you just as much. My most vivid memory of you was the inch thick butter you used to put on your oat cakes and banoffi pies. Rest in Peace.

My Grannie
The things that will forever remind me of you
Saturday afternoons
Dandy, Beano and Beezer
Lemonade, Iron Bru
Cooking your pancakes
Sugar Puffs and Frosties
Chocolate mousse with cream from Marks and Spencers
Oor Willie and the Broons
Cooking toast on your open fire then covering it with a hunk of real butter and your home made Marmalade
Your Scoth broth, no one has still made it like you
Teaching me clock patience, which I have now taught my children
Sleeping at Banklands and waking to a cup of sweet tea
Your very original thick porridge floating in a sea of milk
Your whistling tunes and humming your Scottish songs in the kitchen
Shouting up the stairs in the morning telling me to get out of bed or Ill be late again for College or work
Sitting by the fire on your seat on the hearth
Your pinafore
And loving me for all my decisions in life be them right or wrong
There are so many more memories that I hold close to me from my childhood and teen years that will stay with me forever
I will enjoy seeing my children listen to the stories I have.
Grannie I am so happy you met Laura and Callum and I know they wont ever forget you.
Til we meet again Grannie
I LOVE YOU.

Dear Granny
When I think of you I smile, for the person I knew you to be was warm and
cuddly, kind and comforting. I will think of your eyes that twinkled when you
smiled and your body that convulsed with fits of laughter! Your laughter was
infectious... Mum has the same laughter so your legendary giggle will live on!
When I think of you I smile for you were stubborn and strong minded and had a
great inner strength. I liked those qualities about you. You taught me to swear
and encouraged mischieviousness... thank you!
Thank you for all the letters you wrote, the cards you sent and the phonecalls
you made. I always loved to hear the sound of your voice... it reminded me of a
soft lullaby.
When I think of you I smile because you were simply my Granny. I loved you and
felt loved by you. I know Mark & Lachlan would have loved you too.
Go well Granny... you will remain with me always!
All my love,
Vanessa
