Cynthia "Cindy" Frey Renner

age 70, of New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, Dover, following a slow decline in health. Born December 8, 1950, in Fry's Valley, Tuscarawas County, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Gretta Mae Durbin Frey. Cindy attended school in Gnadenhutten and graduated from Indian Valley South High School in 1969. She then went on to enroll in New Philadelphia's Union College of Commerce. On April 20, 1974, Cindy married Dalton W. Renner, who survives. Cindy was a hard-worker and was employed by several area manufacturing firms and food service businesses, including Kurtz Kash, Flex Technologies, Super Kmart, Little Caesars and others. She also assisted Dalton in the operation of the family dairy farm. Cindy was a member of Jerusalem Church, New Philadelphia, and sometimes attended Fry's Valley Moravian Church, the church of her upbringing, also at New Philadelphia. In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed watching westerns, mysteries and Christian movies on television, as well as listening to country and Christian music. She had a life-long love for animals, especially her dog Rosie and the cows on the farm. Tragically, Cindy's daughter, Darlene, was taken from her in 2016, and since that time Cindy found comfort in quilting; she made, or helped make, over 50 quilts.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Dalton; her children, Carol (Ryan) Lippencott of Mineral City, and Darin Renner of New Philadelphia; her sister Karen (Tom) Morrison of New Philadelphia; her brother-in-law Lee Renner, also of New Philadelphia; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. In addition to her parents, and her beloved daughter Darlene, Cindy was preceded in death by her sister Jenny Ault.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Friday, June 18, 6 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Drs. Thomas R. Hendershot and Terry L. Downin officiating. Burial will be in Fry's Valley Church Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Cindy, please visit the Obituaries link on the funeral home's website. The family suggests that contributions in Cindy's memory be made to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stone Creek Rd. S.W., or, Fry's Valley Moravian Church, 594 Fry's Valley Rd. S.W., both addresses at New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

I didn't really know her, but I knew her daughter Darlene, through work at Walmart. I saw Mr. Mrs. Renner( I didn't know them well enough to call them by name) whenever they came to have lunch at DQ where I work. They both were a very pleasant couple to serve. I only wish I got to know her better. I am so sorry for the family's loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
God Bless.
