Mary Ann (Peck) Wright of Duxbury, MA, formerly of Reading, age 74, passed away peacefully on February 10, after a courageous decade living with Alzheimer's. Beloved wife of over 51 years of Peter C. Wright. Devoted mother of Michael & his wife Elizabeth of Wakefield, MA, Paul of Los Angeles, CA, Brian & his wife Kate of Hingham, MA, and Lani & her wife Kristin of Londonderry, NH. Cherished Nunu of Conor, Patrick, Jack, Luke, River, and Findley. Mary Ann is also survived by her siblings, Doug of New Hampshire, Karen Marshall of Whitman, Jerry of New Jersey, and Tom of Abington, and an abundance of in-laws, nieces, and nephews who adored her. Predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and Lee Peck, and her sister Sheila Peck Wright.
Mary Ann, endearingly referred to as Map by family and friends, was born and raised in Abington, MA. She graduated from UMass Amherst, where she met her husband Peter, with a degree in English. A dedicated parent, sports enthusiast, and community member, Mary Ann was an active and contributing participant in town programs including the PTA, Town Meeting, Friends of the Reading Library, little league, youth hockey, and theater program. On any given day, you could find Mary Ann supporting her four children in their activities, creating a safe and welcoming space for all friends and family, and doting on her grandchildren. Avid travelers, Mary Ann and Peter explored the world together and filled their home with extraordinary photographs of their adventures. And each winter, she and Peter spent time on the white sand beaches of Aruba surrounded by lifelong friends.
Mary Ann's smile and contagious laughter, spirited energy, and compassion made her an adored friend to many. She loved to entertain and often hosted large parties filled with music, dancing, and a sprawling spread of food. In her final years, her warm and caring demeanor continued to shine through as she lovingly welcomed visitors into her home and ensured they were cared for and comfortable. Mary Ann was a remarkable person and will be best remembered by how she made each individual she engaged with feel like the most important, loved person in the room.
Enduringly humble, Mary Ann requested that no services be held. To honor her life and memory, donations can be made to The Pat Roche Hospice Home c/o NVNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061. https://www.nvna.org/pat-roche-hospice-home
