Mary H. Young July 21, 1921 May 18, 2010 Resident of Hayward It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Mary Young on May 18, 2010. Born in Scotland to James and Janet Livingston in 1921, Mary and her parents immigrated to America in 1922. Though just a young child at the time she left Scotland, Mary held her Scottish heritage proudly throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as the love of her life, Eugene Young, whom she married in 1944. Mary's greatest joy in life was being a mother to Janet and Joan Young and stepmother to Curtis Young. Mary loved to laugh and enjoyed a good practical joke, even at her own expense. She loved to travel with her friends, particularly to the country in Hathaway Pines where many fond memories of building a small vacation home were had. Mary is survived by her daughter, Janet Pefley (David), Joan Young, Curtis Young (Dawn), as well as grandchildren Stephen Camp (Christine), David Camp, Jennifer Wilson (Dennis), Crystal George (Ryan), Nathan Young (Heidi), Samuel Young (Candice), Amber Poron (Luis), and Ruby Young. She was a great-grandmother to nine, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her loved ones as well by her extended family at Pilgrim Temple Church in Hayward. A memorial service was held at Grissom's Mortuary on Friday May 21. She was interred at Chapel of the Chimes.
