Mathilda Rimkus Faske

Mathilda Rimkus Faske, age 96, of Woodside, CA, passed away on May 10, 2024. She was born on September 28, 1927, in Irons, MI.

Mathilda graduated from Allegan High School in 1945 and furthered her education at the Deforest Electrical School and The American Academy of Art in Chicago.

In 1946, Mathilda began her career as a model for the Stevens Agency in Chicago. Following her marriage to Stanley Faske in 1951, she dedicated herself to designing wedding cakes, sewing, cultivating a large vegetable garden, and serving on the Cooper Election Board in Kalamazoo County, MI. In 1974, she joined Western Michigan University as a secretary to the Dean.

After retirement, Mathilda and Stanley enjoyed trips up north in their Truimph Spitfire. Following Stanley's passing in 1997, Mathilda traveled extensively with Monica's family to Lithuania, Ireland, Spain, and Alaska. In 2015, she relocated to California to live with Monica's family, where she cherished ocean walks and dining at the Miramar Beach Inn in Half Moon Bay, CA.

Mathilda is survived by her children, Mark & Connie Faske, Monica & Dave Fabian, Matthew S. Faske, her grandchildren Matthew J. Faske, Amanda Faske, and Dominic Fabian. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Faske.

Mathilda Rimkus Faske will be remembered for her creativity, dedication to her family, and adventurous spirit. She passed away peacefully in her favorite red rocking chair.
