Matt Stahlin

Blessings to all the family. Some of us here in Miami just found out. We are sorry for the loss. I knew Matt for a short time but an academy creates a bond and although he left Miami Dade Fire Rescue, we were proud to have Matt graduate with us - he was was a awesome man.

I don’t know where to begin; Matt was like a brother to me. Ever sense I’ve gotten back from Tennessee. I’ve been playing old memories in my head, thinking back to all the awesome times we had. However I keep thinking of one of the first times I started hanging out with Matt we were in Middle School. He saked me what my name meant? I said I don’t really know I think it’s like a poet or something. Then he told me Matthew meant “Good gift or gift of God.” That one statement…so innocent… yet, so true. Matt was a great gift to me for sure. With Matt I learned who I was, and that life is an adventure. Live life to its fullest and make it count. And, anything with wheels must be jumped. We may have gotten in some trouble along the way. But, it was always in good fun. We shared outlooks and some mannerisms Matt was a die for friend. I would have done anything or faced any situation with him. That was just Matt though, he brought that out in people. At his wake I noticed Matt rarely made friends, he made family. Everyone I saw lost a brother. With my thoughts of all our great adventures, fresh in my head. I have to say miss you my brother. My heart goes out to Heather, Wyatt, and Piper... If you ever need anything let me know. Ken, Linda, and Tracee. Same goes for you too. Before I go one last jump. Im heartbroken for the loss of Matts entire family. Heather, Wyatt and Piper, my heart BREAKS for you all. I have never seen a father love their family so much. It was always so inspiring to me to see your family unit. Matt is a good soul. Im so very sorry for your loss. I feel blessed to have met you all and have been praying for all of you and the kids during this time. Heather, it feels like such an understatement to say I'm so sorry for your loss but please know that I am thinking about you all. I am so sorry for your loss. Matt was a wonderful person and we always enjoyed talking with him when he would bring Piper to school each day.
