I didn't actually know Matt well, but he was with me in elementary school, played Matt Ball with me on "Team Commando" and was a member with me of Enfield High School's Drama Club. He was a great person and I was very shocked when I learned of his death. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

My deepest sympathy goes to everyone in Matthew's family and to everyone who loved him. Although I only met Matthew once when he was a baby, it is heart-warming to read these entries and know what a well-loved and good person he was. Even people who did not know him well carried him in their hearts. No one's life should be cut so short. I am truly sorry for this loss.

Some of the fondest memories of my childhood were growing up next door to Matt and going to school with him until high school. He's always been the most fun to be around - you couldn't help but be in a good mood with him around. I'm going to miss him so much. My deepest sorrows and sympathies to his friends and family. We love you, Matt.

To my cousin Pammy,
I am so sorry for your loss of Matthew. You and Dylan, and the rest of the family are in my thoughts and my heart. I haven't seen or talked to you in some time, but I often thought about how you and the boys were doing. I remember Matt as an energetic, funloving kid, with a great big smile and I know you must have been so proud of him. I know there is nothing anyone can do or say to take away your pain, but I want you to know that I will always be here for you and yours no matter the time or distance between us. You will remain in my heart, my thoughts, and in my prayers.
With much love, your cousin, Missi

I had the great pleasure of knowing your son through my daughter - Caitlyn - as he was her first stunting partner in cheerleading. There's very few people whom I would allow to "throw" around my daughter... Matt was the first... He was a wonderful young man who will be greatly missed by all. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Your family will be in our prayers.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My daughter has gone to school with Matt ever since elementary at Enfield Street. I remember being at the school one day in 6th grade and my daughter cut herself and Matt appeared with a band-aid for her. I remember commenting, "what a sweet boy!" To this day Jill still refers to him when talking to me as,"the boy with the band-aid." I hope knowing how special he was to others helps you to heal too.

Thoughts and prayers,

I
had the pleasure of meeting your beautiful son through my daughter many years
ago. The moment I met him I knew he was a kid that I would love to have
around. He had such an amazing sense on humor and he would always laugh
and make me laugh to. I really loved your son and I loved seeing him ride
up on his bike to visit. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I pray for your family
and I also pray for the friends of Matt's that are here and trying to cope
with this large loss in there lives. God be with you all

We understand as our son gained his wings in 2003. Our children are the light of our hearts and when we are left to grieve them we sometimes feel so alone with the overwhelming pain, please know you are not. There are many of us here that walk the path with you and we are always here. During this time hold each other close and we will hold you in our prayers.

I wanted to give my condolences to Matt's family, especially Sara. I am Ashley Elco's mom. They were such good friends. He was a great kid with a fantastic personality and will be missed at our house.
