I'm so sorry for your loss Mike, family and friends. And Matt, I hope you know that while we didn't know eachother that well, your spirit was so lovely to be around. Same as you Mike. Matt, I can hear your laugh and remember a popcorn making contest.I met Matt through Christa and friends. While it's been awhile, I remember playing games at Josh's, hanging out in Princeton and getting to see Matt and Mike's place in palmer square. You were both a joy to spend time with. I'm sending so much love and wishing you support and healing during this difficult time.

I've not had the privilege of knowing Matt for a long period of time; our paths have only recently crossed via LNHARS. But in that short time, I've encountered a warm, entertaining and gregarious individual who always seemed to have a smile on his face.

Just last week, Matt and I were commiserating the passing of our fathers and, although he likely didn't know it at the time, that conversation helped me tremendously to deal with the anniversary of my father's death and all the emotions surrounding that. Reading Matt's obituary, I get the sense that he had that effect on a lot of people. He certainly will be missed. I wish I had the opportunity to have gotten to know him better, for longer. For those friends and family who have, I extend my deepest condolences. I truly hope the good times that were shared and the loving memories of Matt can help to provide solace during your time of mourning.

I met Matt during the COVID craziness. I could not get thru to unemployment. They owed me many weeks. I sent Matt a message and he called me. He had the woman on Murphy's broadcast call me and we received our back payments. So sad to hear that he passed.
He impacted people that no one knew about. Forever grateful for his help.

Matt was my first friend in Princeton. From the moment we met, he brought light, sharp wit, and a sense of ease I didn´t know I needed. He had that rare ability to make you feel like you belonged-like he´d known you forever.

His love for politics, for storytelling-it was infectious. We spent hours in conversation, debating, laughing, dreaming. Those talks stayed with me long after I left Princeton, and they played a real part in why I stayed in the work of political organizing.

When I came out to my family, Matt was one of the first people I leaned on. He met me with calm, warmth, and steady support.

Even after I moved to Chicago and we saw each other less, I followed his writing with admiration. I read everything he published. He had such a gift for clarity -his words always carried weight.

I feel incredibly lucky to have known Matt. He showed up when it mattered. And that´s something I´ll never forget.
