Matthew Caspers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2022.
Matt Caspers- The man, the myth, the legend.. Men wanted to be him and women wanted to be with him. Matt was born on May25, 1972 and passed away on July 22, 2022. Matt loved his partner of 13 years Cindy, his children, music, the Detroit Lions, the Red Wings hockey team, Little Debbie's snack cakes, playing Keno and cold beer: not necessarily in that order. He hated vegetables, liars, going to the doctors and interacting with morons: not necessarily in that order.

The state of Michigan will forever be his home. However, his time spent in Reno Nevada was most memorable. Matt will always be the subject of many stories in Reno. In all honesty, he attracted more ladies then a shoe sale at Macy's. He is greatly recognized by many for his football stardom in high school, but he will always be remembered for being a loving father and partner, a trustworthy and brutally honest friend as well as a terrible driver.

Matt is survived by his partner of 13 years Cynthia Nelsen of Albuquerque New Mexico, his daughters, Samantha Mello and Ben Kolonko of Syracuse New York, Alexia Clark and Nick Kouledis, Chasey and Joey Russie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Madison Caspers and Brooklyn Caspers of Atlanta, Georgia. His son Brendan and Cienna Caspers of Las Vegas, Nevada. His sister and brother in law Sheri and Pete Ward and his brother and sister in law Mark and Carolyn Caspers of Las Vegas, Nevada as well as his grandchildren Skylar Clark and Malia Caspers also of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents James Peter Caspers and his mother Claudette Joyce Thode

Matt was never one for sentiment or religiosity, but he wanted everyone to know that if he owes you a beer and if you can find him in Heaven, he will gladly allow you to buy him another.

Matt was tragically killed when he rushed into a burning building to save a group of orphan children. Or maybe not. We all know how much he liked to tell stories. A private celebration of a life well lived and raising a bold middle finger to Cancer will be held on Saturday August 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
