MATTHEW CENICEROS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 25 to Oct. 2, 2015.
Matthew "Matt" A Ceniceros, 37, of Austin, Texas, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. He was born in San Antonio and raised in El Paso. Matt is survived by his son, Cooper, 10, daughter, Harper, 7 of Austin TX; his father and mother, Henry and Carol, of El Paso; his brother Marcus and his husband Chong Hao-Fu of Chicago; and his partner, Lydia Brie Morrow. Matt was a man of strong faith and devoted to his relationship with Christ, constantly striving to learn, change and grow. Matt wasn't just a father, he was a 'daddy.' Matt was a profoundly devoted parent. He fiercely loved his children and sought to provide them a joyful, faith-based, love-filled life. He delighted in their laughter and their growth, especially those tiny moments when their minds and hearts grew. Anyone who knew Matt knew him as an exceptional leader, thinker and storyteller. Like many gifted and passionate professionals, Matt drew joy from his role as a communicator. Over the course of his career, he led global media relations and social media for FedEx and went on to grow into a respected thought leader in the marketing and technology industries. Over the course of his abbreviated life, he was a die-hard champion of those he loved and respected. Matt lived by a strong moral code that was an inspiration to others. According to his brother Marcus, one of Matt's guiding principles was simple: Don't commit yourself to something you don't believe in. "Do and say what you mean." In his death, the world lost a great man with a beautiful heart and mind. He was a wonderful father, son, brother, partner and friend. We are all better for having known him. A memorial will be held at St. Raphael's Church in El Paso on Saturday, September 26, from 11:30am - 12:30pm.

Thanks for all the laughs and smiles you gave me. The world really did lose out on a great human being. You are a truly wonderful person with a heart of gold. Just recently thought of you and decided to write something here. As you would tell me, make sure its worffffff it!

I was shocked and saddened to read about Matt's passing. I had been messaging with him just days before this and a few months ago he put our podcast together with the president of Austin's ROT Rally and Matt came in to the studio for the recording and was his usual friendly, helpful, wonderful self. We loved having him. He loved his family and his community and was a class act.

I loved Matt's unbridled enthusiasm in the office while at Dell and on the pickup basketball court during our early Friday morning games. RIP.

Matt was a great man. Smart, caring, and fun to be around. I have some great memories of him throughout the years I've known him an he will be missed. But no one will miss him more than his wife Jennifer and his two beautiful children. May God Bless you on your new journey, Matt.

I'm so sorry for this tragic loss. I knew Matt and his beautiful wife and kids in Memphis. I hate that those precious children have lost their dad. To truly honor his memory it is most important to support
Jenn and Harper and Cooper in any way they need. You will be in our prayers.
