MATTHEW R. "MATT" HALLINAN

I met Matt when we were campers at Summit Camp and again during Travel trip to California. He was my roommate at the Summer 2001 California trip, which was the same year I graduated from high school and started college. I remember talking to him about his life and family, and encouraged him to go to college. I am sorry to hear about his passing and wish his family the best.

Not a day goes by when I don't think about you and miss you. Time will never heal the crack in my heart but I will always love you and you give me strength to get by. Id do anything to hug you and talk to you again. Some days the pain is overwhelming. Always thinking about you- always talking about you to keep your memory alive.

I am so sorry to hear of Matt's passing. He had a great sense of humor and always a smile. I have very fond memories of teaching him at the Day School. I will keep his family in my thoughts.

Matt was a very close friend of mine for a long time, he always played and teased with me during our good friendship. His death leaves me VERY saddened. A great person, a great fellow and a JOY to be a friend with.

Matt was a long time friend of mine. We met at the Day School. I thought he was a riot and very friendly. We just got back in touch a couple years ago. I really enjoyed all the interesting conversations we had on the phone, especially the ones about a mutual favorite TV show we had. He planned to go to Law School and we both loved TV shows that had to do with forensics, and law. I am proud that he graduated from Numan! I will miss him very much.

Just read all of the entries in here. What an "extraordinary" person Matt is. He always treated me like another brother. I thought I was special! What a blessing to see how many others got this same treatment and feeling as a result of knowing the incredible man. Love you, buddy. Can't wait to meet all the people up there who I know you will have so well informed about the rest of us.

I went to school with Matt for 4 years at Devereux. We talked almost every day on the bus ride home. He was truly one of the nicest guys I have ever known. I am honored to have been a friend.

I had the privilege to get to know Matt in a variety of settings. As a classmate, colleague and competitor. As a classmate his work ethic was second to none, we often would share the same study room in LLC 1. As a colleague working for the athletic department, his passion and dedication was always on display assisting with the basketball teams. As competitors we would play pick up basketball and his sheer love for the game could always be seen. Most importantly through all these different settings I got to know Matt as a friend. He cared deeply about people and touched many lives at Neumann College. Thank you Matt for the being the genuine, compassionate person that you were. You will be missed.

I was blessed to know Matt when I worked at Neumann. I looked forward to seeing his broad smile in the hallway and getting one of Matt's hugs. His heart was always filled with God's Holy Spirit and he brightened our world. He will certainly be missed. I will pray for your strength in accepting God's will. I remember the day I met Matt at Neumann... it was the summer pace program we both had to attend... He was so brave the first to gave our 1st college presentation during the pace program! He was such a sweetheart and very bright. He greeted me with a big hug n smile whenever we cross paths on campus and give me compliments everyday! As he waited for his parents and I waited for the bus we just talked about anything! Rest in Peace Matt gone but never forgotten!

Matt and I became friends at Neumann when he would stop in at the Campus Safety office. When Matt would talk about getting through a course I would always ask him "How do you eat an elephant?" and then tell him - one piece at a time. He was one proud young man at graduation. As an adult student I had a few more classes to go and when I would see Matt at the Shop N Bag he would ask how I was doing and remind me about eating that elephant one piece at a time!

Matt, do know that when my work day was at its worst your sudden presence in my office and your smile made everything else so trivial. May your soul find peace my friend and that all of us that knew you wish nothing more than one more day with you.

Matt was a terrific student at the Devereux Day School. I was his music teacher and he was the star in every musical. He loved acting and singing. My favorite was when he played Scrooge. Matt was a kind soul and I will always remember him.

I will always remember Matt's big smile and saying Hello to me as we passed each other coming in and out of Living and Learning Center 1. He will always be remembered on and off the court as well. I'm sure he not only touched the Men's team but the Women's basketball team as well! We truly enjoyed his presence before or after practices and games!
