Matthew Haughton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 28, 2023.
Matthew Bryan Haughton, 44, of Liberty Hill, Texas, sadly was taken from us on February 20, 2023, in a motorcycle accident.

Identifying as "Bryan"...or you may have known him as Roger, an inside joke between he & himself that he would conveniently forget to tell the target about...God forbid anyone forget his name.

Bryan was born and raised in California, where he spent most of his youth riding waves, and drinking beer along the coast with his brother, cousin, existing friends, and anyone who might pull up beside him (while they were supposed to be in school.) He sparked instant connections with nearly every soul he encountered and had a huge heart to care for others. After a few decades in construction, some time on a printing press, and a dip in the oilfields, he developed jack of all trades-itis & finally arrived at his dream career - building homes. His projects were overflowing with passion. If a trade couldn't get to the job in time or an emergency called for it, he was doing the work himself to keep things flowing. In his leisure, he adored family time. With three kids in sports for the last couple of decades, he volunteered where there was need: from coach to construction crew, to taxi driver, or just being a fan in the stands. He thoroughly enjoyed and was filled with pride while watching his children do what they loved. Hobbies included buying RC parts, building RC cars, and driving them (three entirely separate activities.) In his 20's he settled for, but rather enjoyed, his dirt bike, worked on it, rode & jumped with it any chance he got. Last year, he finally acquired what he's sought his whole life...."the crotch-rocket." While working in Arkansas, he took numerous rides as a club member and claimed the sensation as indescribable. He left this world doing something he longed for his entire life and treasured every second of it once he received it.

He is survived by his three children, Victoria, Jake, and Asher; his wife Erin; his father James Haughton; mother Giuseppina Giordani Hawkins; siblings Nick Haughton and Gabby Hawkins; cousin Kai Haughton, his extended family, and 27 hats.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at noon on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at RockPointe Church in Liberty Hill, Tx.

A paddle-out will be held in California - date TBA.

Bryan I'm so heart broken and still can't believe it. My brother growing up with you has always been so special. We had so many cazy times together. Bikes, skateboards, surfing, living together, working together, raising our kids, all the time at the beach.Prayers and love to all our family in Texas. I'll be ready to surf with your kids and share our stories. I know your watching over Erin, Jake, Victoria and Asher. Your heart of gold has touched so many and will be missed dearly. Rest in peace brother. I will always love you and never forget you.

Bryan was a good friend. I really enjoyed being around him. I only knew him for around 2 years but it felt like I´ve known him my whole life. I will truly miss him.
