Matthew Meier Obituary
Matthew D. Meier, 46, of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 after battling a long illness at Cleveland Clinic. Matt was born August 19, 1971 in Toledo, Ohio, to Michael D. and Barbara C. (Quigley) Meier. He graduated from Penta Career Center and Perrysburg High School in 1990. Matt loved 80s hair metal bands and enjoyed watching movies.
Matt is survived by his daughter, Samantha (Brandon) Hertzfeld; grandson, Bentley Hertzfeld; parents, Michael and Barbara; sister, Melissa (William) Calderon; stepbrothers, Jeffrey (Jenny) Helberg, Jeremy (Jill) Helberg; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Amanda Meier; and two grandmothers.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133), with a Funeral Service taking place at 6:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Christopher Boggs. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations in Matt's name be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org). Matthew, I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I feel like I knew you - based on all the good things your Mom told me. I know your Mom is very happy being with you in heaven and before long you will be lying side by side on this earth. Tell your Mom I love her and miss her.

My condolences to the Meier family. Matt kept me employed for close to three years and was an easy fellow to work with. I was amazed to watch Matt work through his struggles the past few years and never once complain. Instead he kept finding solutions to keep it going until the end. I'll always remember you my friend and wish that all who knew you only keep the good times in their hearts.
