Dr. Matthew Jared Strouch

So sorry to hear this news. Matt was a fellow medical student and an all around awesome guy to hang out with. My condolences and prayers to his family!

I am truly sorry for your loss. Dr. Strouch will be missed and he will never be forgotten, may his soul rest in peace.

Matt was my a fellow medical student on our Surgery rotation. He was such a fun and easy going guy. He already had the markings of a great surgeon. My heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

Wonderful doctor, great person! I worked with Dr. Strouch many times and even if I didn't particularly like the case he was doing, he was always a pleasure to work with. He was funny and personable in the OR and serious and caring to his patients. Fridays at Wakefield will never be the same. I will miss him very much! Prayers for his family, as I know he was a loving husband, father and son.

Dr. Strouch was my surgeon on March 27, 2017 for colon cancer. I had stage 3 colon cancer. He was a great doctor, highly recommended to me by me gastroenterologist in Wilson. I was totally shocked to hear of his untimely death and wish God's peace over his family. Although I spent very little time with him directly, I had learned from two nurses who had worked with him in surgery that he was a wonderful man and a great surgeon. To his family: I am so sorry for your loss.

I never knew the Strouch family, but after reading the article, my heart goes out to his family. It's very heartbreaking to hear of such good people losing their lives too soon. He seemed to be such a very good hearted person and great surgeon. His family is in my thoughts and prayers. My condolences.

Dr. Strouch preformed surgery on me in December, 2016. When I first met him two months earlier, I knew immediately that I was in good hands. He was thorough and extremely knowledgeable and put me and my wife at ease about the surgery. On top of that, Dr. Strouch was so personable. His easy smile and sense of humor were extremely refreshing. I only have good memories of Dr. Strouch. My sincere condolences go out to his family and everyone who worked with him.

Matt was a one of a kind, energetic, positively magnetic personality. For all of his accomplishments and talents, he was very down to earth and easy to connect with. I always felt comfortable in his presence. He had a quick smile and great sense of humor. RIP Matt. You will be missed.

I had the honor of meeting Matt when we were just teenagers, and from there blossomed a lifelong friendship. Matt was vibrant, intelligent, and truly caring. He was immensely well-rounded, making him a wonderful husband, father, and doctor. He has a beautiful family that will persevere through this tremendously difficult time. He left us much too soon, though I am blessed to have known him for the short time that I did.

May God be with all of Dr Strouchs family at this most sorrowful and difficult time. My heart is deeply sad by his loss. May God give all of you strength to know that he was such a wonderful and loving man and commanding of his job that He did extremely well. I was one of his patients whom he diagnosed me with Crohns disease and help me to be able To live a life I have to day I thank God for him. What a wonderful daddy and husband he was. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten. His light will continue to shine through the many lives that he saved and touched.

What a loss may God watch over his wife and children I use to pass Dr Strouch in the hallways at work he was very polite and always smiled and spoke because not all doctors are friendly I sensed no arrogance about him and its always the good people that die to soon my condolences goes out to his wife and children family and friends may God give you all peace to endure during this tragic and trying time we will miss see your face around UNC Rex may you rest in peace

I worked with Dr. Strouch for many years. He was a wonderful man and a great surgeon. He will be greatly missed. Praying for his family.

I came to know Dr. Strouch toward the end of 2015 when I was referred to him by my GI doctor. He actually took the time to listen to my complete history and then suggested some diagnostic tests that no other doctor before him (there had been so many) had ever mentioned to me. Upon receipt of the results, he was able to correctly diagnose me and offer a solution. I had been misdiagnosed for 20 long, painful, frustrating years until I met Dr. Strouch. He performed a total colectomy on December 14, 2015one of the most important days of my life. Because of him, I was able to fully enjoy my wedding and honeymoon in April 2016, and every moment since then. I thank the stars every single day for Dr. Strouch and the amazing work he did to vastly improve my quality of life. My heart sincerely goes out to his loved ones. May you find peace in knowing that he touched so many lives during his short time on this earth.

I am so sorry for your lost. Dr Strouch performed emergency surgery on me in2014 after a routine colonoscopy perforated my colon. He was a source of comfort to my family and a caring doctor in my post op. May your memories comfort you during this difficult time.

My heart is broken right now. He saved my life and now I cant believe hes gone. There are just no words to express how great a loss this is to so many! I wanted to tell him again how much I appreciated his skill in performing an amazing surgery on me that went so smoothly and with such a quick recovery. And what a gentle, caring bedside manner! I feel so fortunate to have had him for my surgeon and was looking forward to seeing him at my follow up in a few months. I was going to brag on him to every one there and show him and his nurses my beautiful, but hardly visible scar. What a wonderful caring, compassionate man. He will be missed and I am saying prayers for him, his wife and children that they find great support and comfort in these difficult days ahead.

Dr. Strouch weeks ago performed surgery on my daughter and saved her from colon cancer. Such a lovely man - an excellent surgeon with an incredible bedside manner. Well always have a debt of gratitude and will never forget what he did for our family. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I was a patient of Dr. Strouch starting in 2013. He saved my life through a series of serious surgeries. During that year and a half, we became to joke with one another and he was just an overall great soul. He loved his son and daughter dearly. He would show me photos. Everyone that worked with Dr. Strouch in the OR loved him. I was always told I was lucky to have him as my doctor and surgeon. I was. I am.

A beautiful and gifted soul has been lost way too soon. Ill miss you and our puns. Thank you for saving my life, even when I thought I was losing my life.
