Our loss is Heaven's gain! Maude was certainly one of the most special women I have ever known. She was a pioneer in her own way. I remember looking at photo albums with her and seeing her wearing pants at a beach party. She told me that the picture was taken when she was in her 20's--to which she added that she was quite fresh in those days! She fondly spoke of her time working in Washington, DC, and of all the trips she took to NYC. She was a compassionate caregiver to her mother and a longstanding friend to Ida and Nini. She was a faithful member of PABC and could always be counted on for a stern look over her shoulder at me if she disapproved of some part of the service. Her love for Pooche will undoutedly be all the talk in heaven as she arrives with his ashes that she has asked be buried with her! I'm laughing now as I think of how much she liked to joke and could take a ribbing about anything but whether she looked her age! As much as I will miss my dear friend, I will cherish memories of all we did in WDC and look forward to time in heaven together some day.
