Maureen M "Mo" Buczko

Maureen M. Buczko (née McGowan), affectionately known as Mo, passed away on June 11, 2024, in Rochester Hills, Michigan, at the age of 83. Born on June 1, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, Maureen was a beacon of generosity and tenacity, embodying the spirit of a true Irishwoman.

Maureen's educational journey began at Ladyfield School, then graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1959. Upon graduation, Maureen attended Davis Business College. Her career path led her to notable positions at Talbot's in Birmingham and O'Niels Department Store, where she was admired for her impeccable fashion sense.

In January 1961, Maureen married the love of her life, John J. Buczko III. The couple's enduring love brought forth three children: Brenda P. Nelson (née Buczko), Lisa R. Hook (née Buczko), and John J. Buczko IV (spouse Andrea Knust). Maureen was a cherished grandmother to Bryan (Cheyenne) Link, Casey Nelson, Samantha Hook, Liam Hook, and Allie Buczko.

Maureen's life was marked by her vibrant involvement in the Women's Republican Association, and her hobbies included collecting dolls, scrapbooking, cooking, singing, and doting over her grandchildren. Her passion for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was evident in her lifelong support, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to this cherished institution.

Preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte M. and John J. McGowan, stepfather Marvin Wilson, brothers James P. and John W. McGowan, and stepsiblings Joyce and Terence Wilson, Maureen's legacy is carried forward by her loving family and all who knew her.

Services will not be held, as per her wishes. Arrangements are under the care of Potere-Modetz Funeral Home in Rochester, Michigan. Maureen's life, marked by love, dedication, and a flair for style, will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
