To the family, Maureen was a light, a beacon, a giving person, an example to us all. She will be missed very much.

Dear Micheal, I feel so bad that I missed you guys when both of you came to see me. I now realized that it was Maureen's birthday that day. I would have loved to see her! I still remember how wonderful she was and how much she had helped me in the classroom. I will miss her dearly!

Dear Mike, Adam, Matthew, Ben and Kim and family
Maureen was such a fun and fine person. She was a second parent to my kids and a great support as I negotiated job, school and single parenting. Her dry humour was always entertaining and often illuminating, My son considered her a "real" mother because she had cookies for the kids after school. So may fond memories. A life well lived. I will miss her.

So many memories of such great times! Our families grew up together, we shared joy, laughter and tears. The thought of Mike without Maureen is like Winter without Spring - inconceivable. Our hearts are missing a vital piece now. With all our love and deepest sympathy.

Dear Mike and family, I have so many happy memories of all of you, I don't even know where to begin. Maureen inspired all of us to do and be better. It is very hard to put into words how I feel. Love to you all and thank you Maureen for all your inspirations and love. Love and thanks always

Dear Michael, very sorry to hear of Maureen's passing. Yes, Peter Holt is correct, many Toronto Islanders remember you and Maureen fondly as neighbours, suporters of Save Island Homes and progressive activists.

I will never forget either of you. You were so synchronized - Michael and Maureen. I lived next door in a run down Victorian house while our children were young. You had draft dodgers coming, living and going at your home. It was all so subtle. You and Maureen were involved with things for their intrinsic value.

Dearest Mike,
I am so sorry to hear the news of Maureen's death. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out and a good friend to me when I was living alone in Toronto in my early 20s. I have such good memories of meals shared (with your three lovely boys) songs sung and shared passions for our faith and for making the world a better place through service. I was honoured when she gave her father's theological books to me when I entered the ministry. I will always remember her wit, sense of humour, kindness and singing near her lovely alto voice in choir.

Dear Michael and Maureen's family, Many Toronto Islanders remember Maureen's warm and hearty presence (and yours, Michael, and your great kids', too), at 'Nestle Inn' on Second Street in the early Seventies. With sympathy for your loss and fond memories of Maureen's (and Michael's) steadfast and good humoured contributions to community life, please know you have our best wishes and warm regards, always...

My deepest sympathy to Michael and the family. Maureen and Michael were such vibrant and active members at the Unitarian Church. I first got to know Maureen as leader of a Woman's Study group. Thank you Maureen for the passion and wisdom that you shared.
