Maureen Lloyd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 24, 2023.
Maureen Lilian Lloyd was born on February 18, 1939 to Gordon and Naureen Christian. She passed away in Mississauga on November 24, 2022.

Maureen grew up in Alberta where she studied education at the University of Alberta. She went on to teach, until having children, when she became a wonderful mother.

Maureen was predeceased by G. Mervyn Lloyd ( husband) and John Christian ( brother).

She was survived by Jennifer Lloyd ( daughter), Olivia Lloyd ( granddaughter), Cynthia Stewart ( daughter), Thomas Stewart ( son in law), Blake Stewart ( grandson), Claire Stewart ( granddaughter) and Derek Lloyd ( son).

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Maureen knew that she was a humble, quiet and kind person. Despite not having an easy life, she looked for the little things that brought her joy.

Maureen loved the company of family, close friends and animals. Towards the end of her life she was surrounded not only by family and friends, but even the two resident cats that spent most of the day sharing Maureen's bed.

Before her illness, Maureen especially loved singing, gardening, quilting and cooking. She had an incredible voice from a young age and completed the highest level of RCM. For most of her adult life, she was a member of a choir where she would sing Handel's Messiah every Christmas season. Maureen moved many times over her life, and always took the opportunity to transform an ordinary yard into a magnificent, flowering garden.

A memorial stone has been placed in Tannery park, Oakville, under a beautiful beech tree beside the lake.

She will be missed.
