For Jen and The Sutherland Family.

I remember many years spent in your home, and Jen in ours while babysitting me. Mo opening the door with a smile on her face asking if I was there to see Jen and watch videos of Duran Duran and Platinum Blonde. Your entire family was like a family to ours, The MacGibbons. It was only four short years we spent in Barrhaven but there is not a day that I don't refer back to those times. I am so deeply saddened and sorry for your loss; but happy to be one of the lucky people to have had Mo a part of my life.

Dear Sutherland Family,

I was saddened to learn today through a couple of email messages about Maureen. Even though I was not a very close friend of Maureen's in High School she made a sweet impression on me with her soft, kind and friendly personality. Maureen was with me in Mrs. Hearn's English class at St. T. Two years back I talked with Maureen at our H.S. reunion. We had a wonderful chat and it left me with a smile on my face and in my heart. There are no words to describe what you are truly going through at this time. Please know that you and Maureen are in my prayers. I'm sure Maureen is happy knowing so many people love her. Take care and god bless.

To The Sutherlands,

I considered Maureen my best friend in high school, and I have the fondest memories of giggling with her and talking about boys. I am deeply saddened by this terrible news. I'll never forget Mo's sleepovers and the reaction I received when I gave her underwear for her birthday one year (my Mom's idea). Maureen and I had so much fun catching up and looking at old photos two years ago when we got together for our high school reunion in Montreal. We had lunch beforehand and she spoke so proudly of her son, Ryan. She had lots of photos to show and I was glad to be able share some of mine with her, too. Maureen also spoke of a wonderful bond she shared with Andy and was so grateful to have a close relationship with her brother. The loss of a Mother, Sister, Daughter - I cannot begin to understand the depth of this loss to all of you. My deepest sympathies. I pray that the Lord comforts you through the years to come with great memories of Maureen.

My deepest condolances to the family of Maureen Sutherland. I was deeply sadened by the news on Monday. I could not believe what I read. Even though I was not a close friend of Mo's we were in the same graduating class and shared some classes together. I remembered her to have always had a smile. She will be deeply missed. God bless you in this time of sorrow.

There are no words to express how very saddened we are to hear of Maureen's passing. Mo was the first friend I made after moving to Montreal over 20 years ago. She was instrumental in forming some wonderful memories of life on Westhill Avenue (Beaconsfield) and at St. Thomas High School.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mo's family during this very difficult time.

Dear Sutherland Family:

I was so deeply saddened to hear of Maureen's passing. I have such wonderful memories of growing up with her. Even though our lives took separate paths after high school, I will always remember her kindness as a little girl in kindergarden in Mrs Zerter's class and what a fun friend she was during elementary school. We spent many hours swimming in my family's pool, listening to music in the room above her garage and talking about silly things. My childhood was touched by Maureen and my heart goes out to her family in this difficult time.

Ryan, John, Elaine & Clark

Our deepest sympathies are with you all, and "Ryan"; Gary & I especially know what you are going through. Like you, we were both teenagers when we lost our Moms (and only 1 month apart). It is one of the toughest things that you will deal with in life. If it wasn't for knowing that we will be together again, it would have been unbearable, but we truly believe & trust that for your Mom & ours it will seem like no time at all until we will all be together again.

Love,

Gary, Marilyn, Chris & Jen

I was deeply saddened to read about Maureen's passing last week. I was friends with her in high school and have fond memories of note passing and giggling together in various classes. The last time I saw Maureen was at the class reunion 2 Summers ago and I spent quite a bit of time catching up with her. She had reminded me about going to a Hall and Oates concert and we had a good laugh over that.

My thoughts and prayers are with all her family and especially her son Ryan.

Dearest Sutherland Family:

My deepest sympathies are with all of you in your time of sorrow. I will forever treasure the 35 years of friendship with Maureen that I was honoured with. Although our lives went in separate directions over the years, we were, on many occasions, able to pick up the pieces exactly where we had last left them. Moey has left me with many wonderful memories that I will always treasure. I can only hope that my children will be as fortunate as I to find a friendship as special as the one Moey gave to me.

Thinking of all of you,

Kelly Racicot Forster

Jennifer and Tim,

I am unable to reach you by telephone and heading out of town shortly. Please excuse the impersonal transmission of this message.

My heartfelt sympathies are with you and your family as you mourn Maureen’s passing. At this time of sorrow may these truths sustain you ... know that Maureen will always be as close as a memory and the God of all comfort is always as close as a prayer.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,

There is no greater loss then that of a child by a parent and of a parent by a child, and in Maureen your family has loss both. My deepest sympathies are with you at this time of sorrow, as are those of my family. Mo, as we all knew her growing, was friend throughout the years and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Sutherland Family:

I was extremely saddened to read of Maureen's illness and death in today's paper.

I have very fond memories of being a mother's helper to Colleen and babysitter for 'the kids' in the 60's. I hope some of your memories of happy times together will help sustain you through these difficult days.
