Maureen Ware Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 25, 2024.
Maureen Trehearne Ware (Tre), 94, of Houston, TX, passed away on April 17, 2024, peacefully in her home.

Maureen was born on June 14, 1929, to Christina Joyce Trehearne and Francis Trehearne in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. She was the youngest of 7 (3 girls and 4 boys). After Maureen graduated from high school, she moved to Portland, Oregon to pursue a degree in Nursing. She graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing. While in Portland, she met her future husband Raymond Paul Ware. They were married in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 12, 1954, and relocated to the Oakland Hills in California in 1955, where Ray was pursuing his career in Civil Engineering at Kaiser Engineers. During this time living in Oakland, Maureen and Ray had their two daughters, Hilary Susan and Christina Jennifer.

Early in her marriage, Maureen found herself beginning her lifetime of establishing and running homes throughout the world, as Ray ran projects around the world. In the early 60's, she found herself in Tunbridge Wells, England before moving to Akosombo, Ghana. The couple moved back to the U.S. in 1965 and established their life in Lafayette California. They would move to Bristol and London England, and then later to Perth, Australia, but always came back to Lafayette. In 2008, Maureen and Ray moved to Houston to be closer to their eldest daughter, Hilary, and her family. In 2013, Maureen moved into the Buckingham Senior Living facility, where she lived until she passed. During her last years, Maureen continued to enjoy the many attractions of Houston including good restaurants, Memorial Park, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Botanical gardens. But her favorite place to spend an hour was at the Johnny Steele Dog Park watching all the dogs play.

Maureen was a fitness advocate all her life and loved to play tennis and golf-she was a fierce competitor who never liked to lose. She walked the Lafayette Reservoir trail with her standard poodles almost daily from 1968 until moving to Houston. She was also a prolific artist, working mostly in oils and oil pastels. Her art has been enjoyed by her family and friends for many decades.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband Ray, as well as all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Hilary Ware of Houston, TX and Jennifer Parker, of Carbondale, CO, as well as four grand children and three great grandchildren. Her warm smile, and sense of adventure and fun will be missed by all.

A private family gathering will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: Buffalo Bayou Partnership to Benefit the Johnny Steele Dog Park, 1019 Commerce Street, Suite 200, Houston TX 77002, or donate on line at: https://www.buffalobayou.org/donate/

I remember Maureen as Jennifer“s amazing mother . In her late 80s climbing 3 floors of a townhouse with no problem. So vivacious and full of great stories - and so excited to meet new friends of her daughters and share happiness with others
She will be so missed
My heart goes out to her daughters
And grandchildren.
