Mr. Maurice Miller, 77, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away June 8, 2014. Maurice was born on July 31, 1936 to Bart and Margaret Miller in Olathe Kansas. Both parents and two sisters preceded him in death. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City, Missouri area. He was the fourth child born to a family of five, three girls and two boys. Maurice Miller graduated from Olathe Senior High School on May 23, 1954. He served in the Armed Forces of the Unites States of America and was honorably discharged September 26, 1961.
He served with care and love in many capacities: his family, church, and most importantly his community. He worked 30 plus years for the United States Postal Service, where he retired and enjoyed spending time with his family. He delighted in collecting coins and model cars. Maurice had a heart of gold and a smile to brighten up everyone's day!
Memories of Maurice Miller will be cherished by: two daughters Kimberly Marshall of Little Rock, Arkansas and Vanessa Johnson (Vault Johnson) of Jacksonville Florida; one son Terry Weaver of Kansas City Missouri; sister Clarice Claytor; brother Wendell Miller; five grandchildren: Annie and Maurice Weaver, Jennifer Marshall, Brandi Holden (Corey Holden), and Wayman Stewart II; two great grandchildren, Kendall and Kylie Holden. Nieces, Karen Morris, LaTanya Morris, Monica Ellis, Lakeasha Williams (Keith), LaCheak Fletcher (Bryant), Dava Morris (Keith), Sha'Day Kirtley, Danielle Morris, Natalia Shanklin, Rodni Morris, Nautica Morris, Kiva Powell, Akia Fletcher, Miyahka Morris, Makenzye Powell, Makyla Morris, Da'Jainae Lacey, Terrielle Lee all of Kansas City Missouri, and Joy Claytor of Olathe; seven nephews, Rodney Morris, LaTeef Morris Sr., Bryant Fletcher Jr., Keith Jones III, LaTeef Morris Jr., Levi Morris all of Kansas City Missouri., and Aaron Claytor of Olathe Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.
