Maurice NADON

I did not know him very well but I did meet him one day while I was living in Toronto. It just happened that I received some mail that somehow came to me because I have the same name, Maurice J. Nadon. At this moment, today, I just happened to get on the internet to check new entries about my name and I ended on this site. It was a shock for me to read that he passed away in Dec. 2009. My condolences to all his family. When I met him we established at that time that we actually were related.

Our condolences to the Nadon family on the passing of Commr. Nadon. He was a great Canadian and a beloved member of the RCMP. I had the distinct pleasure of Meeting he and Madame Nadon in 1974 in the NWT where he was touring. Easy to speak to, he was a common man who did a great deal to bring the RCMP into what it is today. We owe a great deal to Commr Nadon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of sadness.

Very sorry to hear of Commr. Nadon's passing. My wife Florence and I met him and his wife when they visited Stony Rapids Detachment in 1974.I was impressed with his down-to-earth manner and was sorry we couldn't catch any fish that day. He was a very effective Commissioner and was well thought of by those who had contact with him.

J'ai eu le privilège de rencontrer M. Nadon en 1964 alors qu'il était mandaté de visiter les bureaux de la GRC en Atlantique pour déterminer le traitement et les chances d'avancement des francophones.

Je l'ai trouvé très acceuillant et diplomate. J'ai par la suite suivi sa carrière de loin et l'ai crédité de plusieurs des améliorations qui se produites par la suite dans la Force.

Wasn't it wonderful for us to gather in June in Mattawa for the tribute to uncle Maurice? It was an event memory Giles and I will carry to the end of our lives. He was a very special man to many and to me too as his niece-in-law.

We will never forget too the big family gathering almost 10 years ago at his cabin in Whiskey Bay on Grace Lake with so many of you.

Having the DVD made of the June events is now even more precious to us. Sorry we could not be in Ottawa to honor uncle. The airlines in the U.S. are very messed up because of the bad weather conditions out here in the West. Just know that our thoughts are with all of you. We look forward to seeing you again in July of 2010 in the Ottawa area.

My sincere condolences at the passing of your father. I have fond memories of time we spent at the Long Island RCMP summer training camp in the 1960's including the evenings around the camp fire. Mr. Nadon was fine man and I benefited from just knowing him.

La famille Morin a perdu un bon ami dans la personne de Maurice Nadon. Nous avions aussi bien connu sa défunte épouse Madeleine.J'ai eu l'occasion d'aller à la pêche dans le Parc Algonquin avec Maurice et en compagnie d'un autre autre bon ami Bertrand Giroux. Nous étions souvent partenaires au tennis et au jeu de billard.
Ce qui rendait Maurice si aimable était sa modestie,sa simplicité,son humilité et sa sincèrité. Il était bon vivant et il aimait rire surtout.
Maurice laisse un souvenir durable dans ma mémoire, il représente une des plus belles époques de ma vie.

I am so sorry and disheartened by your father’s passing.

He was profoundly loved by his family and friends and respected by numerous colleagues; no doubt his zest for life will be missed. He was kind and generous to everyone he met and will continue to be an inspiration to all. Forever I will remember his infectious laugh and that smile he carried wherever he went.
