Maury was a very effective and generous general chemistry teacher at Campion HS in 1965-69. Most of my remembered knowledge from class lectures and lab, as well as my experience as chemistry lab assistant under Maury for two years, have been useful in all of my later medical and graduate education. The periodic chart, and stoichiometry of chemical reactions have remained with me through life. Practical use of pH and elementary electronegativity helped my courses in organic chemistry and medical physiology. He encouraged me to pursue pre-med at XU. The concept of molarity was made understandable very early. I wish I had kept in touch with Maury. I did talk once on the phone with him after I was in practice in western Oregon in the late 80's. I graduated from Campion HS in 1969.

We shared a "road trip with you and your beloved wife --well bus trip actually for plays and dinners and all around great time---It was waaaaaay more than we expected and will always remain one of my top memories--but just one of the ways you two cared for you community
