Surprised and sad to hear of this from a friend of Maurice. My memories date back many years (too many) to the days, when in our early teens, our Sunday evenings were spent playing cards for pennies in the kitchen of the Ship Launch Inn, listening to our favorite music in bar (when closed)and enjoying a hot meat and potato pie. Maurice and I played for Egremont cricket team for a number of years and enjoyed a holiday in Germany before we lost touch in 1965 as a result of my migration to Australia.

I was fortunate to meet up with Maurice again and enjoy a pint and a good natter in the Park Head pub and again when he gave an enlightening talk for the local Egremont Probus Club.

Many good memories of very happy teenage times. Maurice will be missed by many.

Very sad to hear this. I worked with Maurice when we were both "young and daft" at Marchon. I remember me and Maurice playing darts in his parent's Pub, the Shiploanch Inn in Egremont in the wee small hours until our arms ached! Then through Whitehaven Tech and then onwards to Newcastle Uni. After that our paths separated but we still bumpted into each other in Whitehaven until I left 10 years ago.
Miss you old buddy.
