Maurice "Morry" J. Whitty, 89 of Mayville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8th at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with Rev. Shawn Willman officiating. A visitation will take place on Friday, October 11th from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Military rights will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #69. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Mayville.

Morry was born on May 18th, 1924 in Iron Ridge to Robert and Emma (Mueller) Whitty. He was a 1943 graduate of Mayville High School. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII where he served in the European Theater. He was united in marriage to Ruth E. Haag on November 21, 1953 in the Tn. of Theresa. He was employed at Purity Cheese for 40 years as also Radiske Specialties of Mayville.

He was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Morry was also a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69 and the Mayville VFW Post #10107. In his spare time, Morry enjoyed being a member of the Mayville Golf Club, where he played countless rounds of golf over the years. He also had a love for nature while hunting and fishing.

Morry is survived by his son Thomas Robert Whitty of Mayville. His sister- Jeanette Gruenewaldt of Mayville. Further survived nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth in 1994, and 1 son, James Maurice in 1971.
