HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Max Edward Quackenbush, 85, of Hawesville passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport, Ky. Max was born on June 27, 1931, in Bedford, to the late Lantz and Juanita Day Quackenbush. He graduated from Tell City High School and attended Indiana University. Max was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from Commonwealth Aluminum in 1990. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed UK and IU basketball. He loved to fish and golf and enjoyed being outside. Max was a former member of the Hawesville Fire Dept. and a former Hancock County Constable. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Emerson; a grandson, Joseph Bloyd II; and a brother in law, Ralph Emerson.
He is survived by his wife who he married on Jan. 1, 1976, Martha Bradshaw Quackenbush; three daughters, Jennifer Quackenbush Ray, Kim (Jim) Jarboe and Donna (Mark) Nance, all of Tell City; five sons, Greg Quackenbush, Jay (Debbie) Quackenbush both of Lynnville, Kevin (Hope) Quackenbush of Winslow, Joey Bloyd of Hawesville and Gary Bloyd of Tell City; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Hawesville Baptist Church with burial following in Serenity Hills. Max's family will be greeting friends on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville.
