The ceremony to honor and say goodbye to Max was so touching and I was so glad to have been touched by Max with his quiet dignity, his knowledge and his courage. I am sure that it is so hard to take some of that strength and keep going and I wish all of you all of the wonderful memeories of your lives together with him. He touched all of us in a profound and meaningful way and that is a terrific legacy. I am a better person for having been touched by Max and your family. Cynthia

Dear Aviva, Stanley, Mark, Brenda, and Francine......

I just heard the news of Max's passing. I am so very sorry and wanted to immediately express my condolences to all of you.

You know, it's a funny thing. There are certain people that you may go many years without seeing or speaking to....and yet they have an extremely large influence on your life. I had not seen him in quite a few years, I don't think....but every time I saw him, he was always so friendly, so full of life....he was a real mensch to me and he's a huge part of my childhood (as was Stanley and Aviva).

I remember very well spending lots of time at the Famous Pinedale home. He had a way of making me feel as if it was my home too! Heck insome ways it probably was. He was very nonjudgmental towards me and a good sense of humour. He was very supportive. I remember playing ice hockey where he was lacing up my skates, telling me he didn't really much care if I scored or not or played well. What he DID care about, though, was that I gave it my very best each and every time I was out on the ice. In some ways, I still carry that message with me to this day and we are going back about 35 years. It's a message I try to instill to my own children today as he did to me.

Every single memory I have of him is a very fond one. I already miss him.

Anyway, love you all and just wanted you folks to know that I was thinking of you.
