Maximiliano Cervantes

October 12, 1937 - August 28, 2025

Maximiliano Cervantes, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in San Marcos Evangelista, Jalisco, Mexico on October 12, 1937, he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and love.

He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1986. He then devoted his time to the simple joys he cherished most-spending time with his family and friends, and enjoying his regular visits to the coffee shop where he always shared stories and laughter.

Maximiliano is survived by his loving wife, Julia Cervantes: his children Maria Perez, Rosa Ruiz, Alicia Palacio, Santos Cervantes, Max Cervantes, and Rudy Cervantes; along with 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. His presence, wisdom, and warmth will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 12, 2025 at Casa Bonita Funeral Home, 2500 Cemetery Lane, Stockton, CA with viewing to start at 10:00 a.m.

To my grandpa, Maximilliano Cervantes...
When I think of you, I think of the man that loved me like no one else has. I remember all the time Grandpa spent watching over me when I was young. Perhaps it was because I was his oldest grandchild, or maybe it was how he saw all his grandchildren, but in his eyes, I could never do wrong. Looking back, I don´t even have any memories of him ever getting upset with me. On the contrary, he would always defend me regardless of what mischief I had done. Grandpa was always so happy to see me, and I was privileged to get to spend so much time with him.
I remember him being at my soccer games and being my biggest fan. I remember traveling with him and Grandma to Mexico to visit family and seeing how they lovingly referred to him as "Huicho," his childhood nickname. I remember grandpa always being there for me at every stage of life... as a kid, a teenager and as an adult.
All I can think now is, Grandpa, I am going to miss you more than I have ever missed anyone. I haven´t just lost my grandfather, I have lost a great friend and a mentor. I will always be grateful for everything Grandpa Max did for me and my family. I will always be grateful for all of the wonderful memories that I carry with me in my heart.
While I know this day was inevitable, I never fully accepted it would actually come. I always thought and hoped I would have my Grandfather at my side, forever. With Grandpa passing away, a piece of me went with him and my heart will never be the same.
Grandpa, I hope you never doubted how much I love you! I will never forget you. Know that it is killing me not be able to see you.
While I know we will not see each other physically in this world again, one day, we will be together again and I will be so grateful to see that smile you always greet me with.
R. I. P. My Beloved Grandfather, mentor, and real life hero.
