HAZEL "Maxine" CREW

Hazel "Maxine" Crew of Clovis, CA, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the age of 83. Maxine was born in Harrisburg, AR, on December 3, 1933, and shortly after moved to California with her family. She was the third of seven children and grew up in a house full of music, dancing, and love. When Maxine was 13 years old, she met a boy by the name of Charlie Crew. He wanted to learn to dance and nobody could dance better than Maxine. Four years later, the two were married and they danced together for another 66 years. In adulthood, Maxine worked as a dance instructor for Author Murray Dance Studio eventually hanging up her dance shoes for apron strings and becoming a stay-at-home mom. When she wasn't at home baking cobblers, you could find her at the baseball fields or basketball courts rooting on her boys. Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Stevie Crew; and husband, Charles Crew. Maxine will be fondly remembered by her sister, Carolyn Kates and husband Jim; three sons, David Crew and wife Teri, Rick Crew and wife Sandy, and Ken Crew and wife Heidi; her seven grandchildren, Melissa Lima and husband Filipe, Stephanie Jorge and husband Ricky, Brittany Crew, Courtney Crew, Jacqueline Crew, Ryan Crew and wife Anneke, and Kasey Crew; and her five great-grandchildren, Kendall, Maguire, Nora, Isaac, and Indie. A Funeral Service will be held at Faith Community Church, 430 Peach Ave., Clovis, CA, on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow.
