Maxine Goetschel-Welch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 16, 2025.
Maxine Goetschel-Welch, 79, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, while visiting family in Yelm, Washington. Born on December 28, 1945, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Maxine lived a life marked by resilience, love, and an unmistakable spark that endeared her to all.

Throughout her life, Maxine embodied strength and spirit. She faced many challenges with courage and grace, never losing the vibrant personality that made her so beloved. Her sassy wit and fun-loving nature brought joy to those around her, and her deep capacity for love left a lasting impression on family and friends alike.

Maxine found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished spending time with her family, playing board games, going camping and enjoying every holiday gathering together. Watching her grandsons play ball filled her heart with pride and happiness. Bingo days (and nights) with her dear friends were something she treasured. Full of laughter and camaraderie, she looked forward to every game. A devoted Elvis fan, she often filled her days with his music and classic movies. She loved to shop and even when her health kept her home, she would get so excited over the arrival of any "new presents" delivered from her favorite online shopping destinations. Despite her many health challenges, she lived every moment of her life to the very fullest.

Family was central to Maxine's world, and she was an incredibly caring Mom and Grandma.

She is survived by her brother Bobby Bogar; sons David Goetschel and Fred Goetschel; seven grandchildren; and great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of strength and warmth. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve Welch; son Ray Goetschel; and granddaughter Crystal Goetschel, all of whom she held close to her heart throughout the years.

Maxine has moved on to Heaven to be joyfully reunited with her family that crossed before her, all of whom she missed so dearly. May she be at peace now and may her memory bring comfort to all those who knew and loved her.

Maxine's family is planning a celebration of life on October 11, 2025. Details to follow.

Celebrating Maxine´s birthday December 2024 at Casa Sanchez in Ontario. She loved their chili rellenos. I love these photos because they capture her lively personality. She loved life and certainly was the life of the party.

Maxine and I found each other at a time in our lives when a good, bestest friend was needed. My family life was lacking in love and attention but I always had Maxine and she had me and we laughed until our sides hurt. Thank you Maxine for so many memories. You were the sister I never had. Rest in peace. I'll be there with you and we can pick up where we left off again. Not real sure heaven is ready for a duo like us.
