Maxine Williams-Jones

Maxine Williams-Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated community advocate, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on February 4, 1955, in Youngstown, OH, during a snowstorm, she was the fifth child of James and Theresa Graves, and she cherished the love of her family throughout her life.

Maxine graduated from East High School in 1973 and went on to earn multiple degrees from Youngstown State University, Cleveland State University, and Cuyahoga County Community College, including a Bachelor's in Sociology. As a social worker for Cuyahoga County Services for 24 years, she developed impactful programs for unwed mothers, community educators, and underserved populations, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

A dedicated volunteer, Maxine served as Chairman of the board at Nordonia Hills Senior Center, where she created programs for senior citizens. Her motto, "life is for the living," reflected her vibrant spirit and commitment to uplifting others.

Maxine was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Northfield, OH, and New Bethel Church of God in Christ in Charlotte, NC. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest "Billy" Jones; her children, Lucy Sams and Mackenzie Williams; seven grandchildren; and five siblings. Three of her siblings preceeded her in death. She leaves behind a "Framily," friends who became family and a legacy of love and compassion.

Maxine's impact will be felt for generations, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
