You only needed to sit beside Max (in the back row) for a moment to realize you were in the presence of a great community musician: always smiling, always encouraging, always able to bring the best out of everyone ... and boy could he play!
Our community has lost a significant member, whose devotion to the Perth Band was without peer.
My bell will remain silent on Thursday in his memory. I regret that we cannot attend the funeral but we are doing something Max would have done ... meeting with the children of Perth and sharing the stories, the love of music, and of giving to others with them. I know he would be smiling and nodding his head in approval.
Requiescat in pace, Max.

There's no one in this world that I would of rather of been able to call grandpa then Max MacDonald.I remember in his happier days always hearing the sound of him playing his tuba in the back room. he was the man that made the tuba look cool! He was such a talented handy man fixing everything that you can imagine and I admire everything that he was to me. As soon as he got cancer I started spending more and more time with him I always admired how strong he stayed right to the end! He still was going to his band practices well he had tumours in his throat until he could no longer...he showed me what dedication was with his love for playing the tuba.... And I'm glad that he can now rest in peace and not have to suffer anymore....he stayed so strong for me and my family and we all love him for how amazing he was

My heart goes out to you at this time. I am truly sorry for your loss. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Reading Psalms 121 is a very comforting scriptural passage. There you will find assurance of God's support as well. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
