In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

My daughter Klarrissa Guzman left Guam and she told me of the passing of Uncle Mar and the departure medivac of Antie May, she asked me to pray for them so I did my daily prayers for them. I was not able to attend Uncle Mar's funeral because I was very ill. I just opened today's paper for the first time again and saw the advertisment. I was so sadden to see & read it, I had no knowledge, my deepest sorrows to all of you children, I will miss Antie May's angelic smile and humbleness.
Although we don't know each other (all you children) personally. Maybe you might be wondering who am I , well I will refresh some of your memories. The last time I saw Auntie May was when the Legion of Mary of Mangilao came with the "Infant Jesus" to Antie Beck's family home and her funeral. Antie May asked me to ask the Legion of Mary to sing the funeral mass exit song for "New Years) in chamorro for Antie Beck.

I am John Guzman's oldest daughter originally of Maina, and I am married to a Blas from Mangilao.

Eternal rest grant unto Uncle Mar and Antie May, O' Lord and Let the Perpetual Light Shine upon them, May they rest in Peace.

I will make it to the funeral tomarrow.

Auntie May I wish I had the chance to say goodbye. I'll always remember your smile and laugh. The wonderful memories growing up, the family bar be ques at the ranch. The lectures you use to give me during my rebellious years. Auntie May i will carry you in my heart always.

TO my Malalis relatives. Lean on each other for support, I know you all have been through so much. Always remember the good times and find comfort knowing your mom and dad will always be apart of you all, their spirits are kept alive through you.
