Mel Mullaney Obituary
Mel was born on August 18, 1940 in Miller, South Dakota to parents, Thomas and Lillie Maud (Fox) Mullaney.
He was in the Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a caring family man and loving father. He married Patricia Ann Donovan May 12, 1962 at Saint Joseph's Cathedral, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the couple had six children; 2 of them adopted.
He is survived by:
His Children, Tammera Ann Fichtman and Bruce Elliot Fichtman; Mel Thomas Mullaney Jr. and Amanda Kay Mullaney; Monica Mary Mullaney and Steven Timothy Choroski; Colleen Maria Creese and Kevin Curtis Creese; John Thomas Thurman and Jade Emerald Thurman; George Franklin Thurman and Shauna Lynn Thurman.
His Grandchildren, David and Jordan Fichtman; Jesse Mullaney, Sara Mullaney-Tena, Matthew Mullaney, Thomas Taylor, Jessica Johnson, and Libertie Daniels; Benedetto Vitale Jr., Shannon Vitale, and Quentin Creese; Declan and Harlow Thurman; Zearyn, Navi, and Tayla Thurman.
His Great GrandChildren, Rylie and Luke Mullaney; Tessa Fichtman; Dakota Vitale; Trenton Baez, Benjamin, Harley, and Heidi Tena; Grace, Avri and Evelynn Taylor; Amya Daniels.
His Siblings, Kathleen Ramm, Rosie Bickett, Paul and Walter Mullaney.
He is preceded in death by, His wife, Patricia Ann Mullaney; Parents, Thomas and Lillie Maud (Fox) Mullaney; Siblings Joan Johnson and Patricia Sloan; Brother's in Law, Gene Ramm and Dale Johnson; Sister in law Doreen Mullaney.
Funeral service will be held on May 6, 2024 at Williamette National Cemetery at 2:30pm at 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, Oregon 97086. A celebration of life will follow (Location to be announced at a later date). All are welcome to attend and celebrate. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Shriners or Saint Jude in his honor.

Mel was a very kind and generous man.
He opened his home for me in transition to going to college. Originally from Saipan, now practicing physician on Guam, I owe Mel, Pat, and the Mullaney family so much for what I am today. Just last year , talked to Hercules about a reunion. Hope to make it to his services. My deepest condolences to Tammy, Hercules, Monica, and the youngest one (senior moment) I shared a home with.
Thank you for sharing your parents with me!

One special memory is that he bought me a phonograph just because I wanted one. It was not any special occasion. It was a treasured gift because of the kindness and thoughtfulness.

Since I was 5 years younger and a girl, I didn't get to play with him much, but I remember that he bought me a phonograph when I was in grade school. It was treasured.
