GREENAN, Melanie Ann We are heartbroken to announce Melanie's (Mel's) passing on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga at the age of only 50 years; the end of a courageous 10 year battle against breast cancer. Melanie was a beloved daughter of her father Paul Greenan and her mother Rosemary and is loved dearly by her sister Merrylee (Mer'd) and her brother Jay. Mel, life will not be as good without you. Melanie was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1967 and grew up in Unionville and Mississauga. She graduated from Holy Name of Mary high school and continued her education graduating from Queen's University, obtained a Teaching certificate at York University and did post-graduate studies at the University of Toronto. Melanie pursued her passion for teaching with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board who she worked for 26 years as an elementary Teacher, VP and a Program Coordinator for the Board and for the Ministry of Education. Melanie had a special talent with young children. Her fun loving and outgoing spirit, compassion and love of kids made her that very special teacher as well as daughter, sister and friend. Melanie loved life and living it. Some of her favourite things were her summers at Thunder Beach where she loved to boat, play tennis, golf, barbeque and spend time with her friends and family and of course her dogs (Daisy, Basil). We will miss her famous Thanksgiving dinners. There was never a dull moment when Mel was around. For anyone who new Mel; you know she was a tour de force. We love you Mel. Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. (Hwy. 10), Mississauga, on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Prayers at 3 p.m). Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 625 Atwater Ave., Mississauga, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. Online condolences can be made through www.turnerporter.ca
