TYNGSBORO, MA -- Melissa E. Allen, 31, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston surrounded by her loving family, after complications of childbirth. She was the beloved wife of Brad O'Brien, with whom she welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Melissa Allen O'Brien, on July 26, 2016.

Born in Lowell on October 9, 1984, she was a daughter of Frances M. (Forys) and James W. Allen, Sr. Melissa was a graduate of Tyngsboro High School, and then went on to attend The University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Melissa devoted her time as an active volunteer for the STEP program in Lowell, an organization that was dear to her heart. She also enjoyed playing both field hockey, and rugby. She will always be remembered by all those that knew her for her kind and generous nature.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, Melissa is survived and will be deeply missed by her brother, James W. Allen, Jr. and his wife, Joyce of Merrimack, NH, and her sister, Jennifer M. Allen of Tyngsboro; and a niece, Mia Allen; as well as many relatives, and friends.

ALLEN -- Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on WEDNESDAY, August 10th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on THURSDAY, August 11th at 9 a.m., with her Funeral Mass directly following at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen church, Tyngsboro.
