Melissa DeBolt Virag

MELISSA DeBolt Virag Melissa DeBolt Virag, 39, passed away in Princess Margaret Cancer Center, Toronto, after a brave two-year struggle with a rare cancer. She was born in Geneva, N.Y., to Janine Warner and Jackson Glenn DeBolt. She was predeceased by her father and grandparents. Melissa is survived by her husband, Gabor Virag of Toronto and Canandaigua; son, Jackson; mother, Janine DeBolt of Canandaigua; brother, Jackson H. DeBolt (Marie) of Hornell; sister, Emily Danese (Vincent) of Chehire, Conn.; and nieces and nephew, Elyse and Sylvie DeBolt and Zoe, Sara and Michael Danese.. She also leaves a dear cousin, Kathrynmary Warner Albert of Pipersville, Pa.; and other aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as her husband's parents, Terez and Karoly Virag of Szekesfehervar, Hungary, and family. Melissa graduated from DeSales High School in Geneva and Alfred University. She had been employed by The Simon School at the University of Rochester and by the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Most recently she was a homemaker and devoted mother to her son Jackson. The family loved Blue Jays games in Toronto and she was president of The Canandaigua Botanical Society and greatly enjoyed their fieldtrips. She also served on the city tree advisory board and volunteered at Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion. Melissa was an avid skier who was just getting into racing. She loved gardening, her cats, historical research and blogging. Melissa was known for her recreations of historical costumes from the Renaissance to Victorian eras. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on December 18 at 11 a.m. at St Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua.
