Melody Carole Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2025.
Melody Carole McNair was born in Memphis Tennessee on August 26, 1966, To Bob and Donna McNair.

She was a beautifully shy child with a winning smile. Learning and loving came effortlessly as she shared her life with her adorable younger brother, Robert.

Melody learned to ride horses early in life and became a consummate equestrian. She enjoyed writing, theatre, music and fine arts. Her passions landed her at Belmont University where she earned a degree in Social Work and Graphic Design.

Post college, Melody was well-traveled and led an adventurous life. She attended writer's conferences in Jamaica and cooking classes in France.

She also ministered on a mission trip in Africa.

Melody was one with nature and found quiet places to pray to the God she worshiped Jesus Christ, the living God.

She was a poetic visionary who admired God's revelations from the pounding ocean waves to the diverse sculptural mountains with their kaleidoscopic color.

But above all else, she treasured being a MOTHER to Lucas and Meryl.

She was brave, protective, and quick to edify them in their life endeavors.

Then Melody met her soul-mate, Brett James, and they became one in marriage.

Melody was anxiously awaiting her first grandchild from Lucas and Sierra

New life - joy and blessings.

Melody loved God and family... to know her was to love her.

She is survived by her only son Lucas Clayton Wilson and wife, Sierra; Mother, Donna Peters; Father Bob McNair; and her brother, Robert Warren McNair and wife, Trish.

As her family we take great solace in the surety of her salvation.

Her last inhale on earth was surely followed with an exhale into her beautiful heavenly home.

John and I are beyond heartbroken. You and Brett were our partners in all things fun. In addition, You were one of the kindest, most caring and thoughtful people that I have ever met. You always showed a deep and soulful interest in others. I am going to miss our deep conversations and all of our planning for our upcoming trips that we had schedule. Heaven has the best of all now. Rest in Peace Melody, Brett and Meryl.

Forty years ago, two beautiful young girls met and homesteaded in each other's hearts. Careers, marriages, divorces, cities, children, joys, sorrows, tears and laughter made up that lifetime of friendship. All I needed was to hear Melody's laugh and all was made right. In the words of Wendell Berry, "We are what has been given, and what has been taken away." So, Melody will be with me forever.
