Donna and family members, I am sorry for your loss and sorry I could not be with you today as you bid goodbye to your father. Know I was there in spirit.

Herb Eilers was my step-dad. I remember going to Melvin's farm as a young kid. They put me on a pony that took off, ran under a clothesline and ripped my new shirt. That was a real hoot, but not at the time.

Melvin was a kind man and a real gentleman. The world is a better place because he spent 92 years setting an example for others to follow. My sincere condolences to all the family. Ronnie Canter, Kerrville, TX.
