I worked with Mel at Glen Cove Hospital (lab). Many lunches together. What a wonderful man. When I see the Hess Truck commercials I think of Mel who always bought 2 each year. R.I.P. my friend.

What a sweet, honest, sympathetic man. Funny too. Going to miss you, "Uncle Mel."

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked for Mel at Lefrak City Pharmacy for 5 years as a delivery boy in the 1960's. Mostly I drove that poor man a little crazy with my various antics. But Mel was always very kind to me during a very bad time in my life. His nickname for me was, "The Shtunk" (look it up). I reconnected with Mel and Arlene about 15 years ago. I simply called him out of the blue one day just to tell him thank you. He deserved so much more than that. The world is a better place for Mel and his family. It's not often one can say that and mean it with such conviction.
With sorrow and love,
Michael Yonchenko (Young)
