Jane, I had the privilege of working with Mel through the Virginia Association of Free Clinics Board of Directors. He was a dogged advocate for healthcare for individuals who lacked insurance and he taught me much about public policy development and legislative advocacy. I will miss him and his wise counsel. I pray God's comfort and blessing upon your family as you and so many others whose lives he has influenced grieve his loss.

Mel was a great man, he helped save my life once at the Free Clinic 8 yrs ago. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with you.
