I have very fond memories of my parents' warm friendship with Mene and Joan through the years. And in particular, memories of a night in 1979 when I was playing piano for a show at the Next Move Theater in Boston. Mene, Joan, my parents- Tom & Claire- and I went out for drinks after the show. I remember the crackling conversation around the table that night and Mene's sage advice about show biz which he delivered with such heartfelt care and humor. What a loving guy! My condolences to your wonderful family.

We are so deeply saddened to hear about Mene. My father always said that he considered Mene his "best friend" (on and off the tennis court at Wightman) and we always so looked forward to seeing you Joan, and Mene, drive by when we were out on our evening walks with the dog. Our warmest heartfelt condolences to you Joan, and the entire family, on your loss of such a wonderful, brilliant, warm and gracious man. He will be greatly missed : (

I remember Dr. Ailapoulios very well from my student years at UMass Medical School and as a surgical resident at UMass/St. Vincent Hospital (where I was also born.) He certainly was an excellent teacher and did, indeed, have the gift of story-telling. While he contributed so very much to surgical progress, I will remember him most for teaching us about "transit time." While we may have laughed at the time, Dr. Aliopoulios knew his stuff and left an everlasting impression on me and was a critical step along the way in my surgical training. I very much appreciate his contributions. I am very happy that he was able to enjoy the fruits of his labors while in retirement as well. Job well done!

Such a caring and kind man. I will always remember his presence and support to me and my dad over 45 years ago when my mother was terminally ill. Wishing his family lasting and loving comfort in every cherished memory. May his memory be eternal ~

Dr. "Mennie" a special friend since 1969.
His surgical skills were only surpassed by his
wonderful smile and mannerly decorum for his work on me and especially on my wife Lee.
May God place him close to His heavenly Throne.
Sincere condolences to Joan, Pamela and the boys.
