Meredith "Ashley' Linden, age 36 of Raeford, passed away peacefully singing as she entered into her eternal resting place on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at her home surrounded by her children and family, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ashley was born on a beautiful snowy December morning at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Her childhood was spent in Raleigh, Plymouth and Washington. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sid Paul Davis of Plymouth, and paternal grandparents, Billy and Edna "Nanny" Reaves of Raleigh. She is survived by her husband, Jakob Linden, and three children - daughter, Lilly, and two sons, Connor and JP, all of Raeford; her father, Bill Reaves of Raleigh; mother, Teri Holliday and stepfather, Wayne Holliday of Raeford; brothers, Tre Reaves & wife Cindy of Ayden; Jacob Holliday & wife Haley of Jamesville; Jason Talley & wife Sarah of Cary; maternal grandmother, Polly Davis of Plymouth; best friend, Jessica Dunn of Fuquay-Varina, and an extremely large host of family and friends. Ashley loved the great outdoors, from the salty sandy beaches to the vibrant fall foliage of the mountains, where she would spend early mornings watching the sunrise and the sunset in the late evenings over the waters and tree tops of the mountains. She spent many nights gazing at the full moon and the stars, taking in every moment before her. Most importantly, she was a mother of three beautiful children that were her life, love, and joy. Ashley's contagious spirit crossed many paths during her life's journey where she was able to touch the lives of many. Her more recent moments of happiness came to her unintentionally through her legacy that grew into what is known as her Rocks of Hope. These rocks were started on a whim, but grew to bring so much hope and happiness for others around the world. The stories of hope and peace that people experienced and shared, from finding a single painted rock, gave Ashley the strength and ability to carry on in her life's journey. Ashley would paint her rocks with inspirational words and sayings, and would randomly place them at the cancer centers during her visits. These would, and still do, bring a smile to those in need of encouragement at the right moment in time. She will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills, NC, officiated by Reverend Marty Caulky. The family will receive friends at visitation on Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Inheritance of Hope at https://give.inheritanceofhope.org/give/35004/#!/donation/checkout. I met Ashley through our mutual love of The Avett Brothers. I came to love her, and I learned so much from her as she fought her battle. Ashley's amazing faith and love of her children and her family have inspired so many. Even during her darkest moments, she thought of others. Her children, parents, brothers, and other family and friends are in my prayers. Celebrate her beautiful life!
