Merrill Dean Brindley

On May 18, 2010 Merrill Dean Brindley ,76, was re-united with his son, Todd and many other loved ones. He was born January 14, 1934 in Kingston, Utah, the youngest son of Howard Nelo, and Lavinia Rosevear Brindley. He lived in Angle, Utah for 11 years, then moved to Draper and attended Jordan High School where he played on the State Champion football team. After high school he served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, obtaining the rank of Boatswain’s Mate. On returning home he met and married Beverly Davis of Salem, they had four sons. They were later divorced. He met Georgia Atkinson at the M.A.C. singles dances and they were married on January 1, 2001. He worked for Geneva Steel for 31 years. Merrill started riding horses at the age of 3 and loved horses all his life. He was a Ferrier, and raised and trained many winning race horses. He enjoyed family parties, chicken fries, camping, hunting and 4-wheeling with his family and friends. He loved the gospel and served in many callings. He leaves behind his wife, Georgia; brother, Jack; and his sons, Calvin (Jan); Terry (Tammy); and Greg (Heather); stepson, Kelly (Penny) Atkinson; two stepdaughters, Mykel (Richard) Severson, and Terry (Peter) Ward. He has 20 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Lavinia; his son, Todd; brothers, Gerald & Leon. The family would like to thank the staff of the Payson Dialysis Center and the many doctors that treated Merrill through the years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Salem Stake Center, 470 East Salem Canal Road. Family and friends may call on Friday evening, May 21, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, or on Saturday at the church from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Salem City Cemetery.
