Treasured husband of Betty (dec).
Loving Dad of Terry, Peter, Paul (dec), Ian, Michael, Ray, Pat and Jason.
Caring Pop of 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Special friend of John Healey.
Rest In Peace
A Requiem Mass for the Repose of Merv's Soul will be held at St Raphael's Catholic Church, Lowe Street Queanbeyan on FRIDAY October 31, 2014 commencing at 1.30pm.
Burial will follow at the Queanbeyan Cemetery, Lanyon Drive, Quenabeyan.

Our condolences to all the Lyons family on the loss of Mervyn. With this great bloke goes a treasure trove of family history, stories and limericks. Theres no two ways about that!

Dear Merv and Family,
I will include you in Jesus/God The Most High's Holy Rosary that Jesus and our Heavenly Mother Mary gave Saint Dominic in the year 1416 for Merv, Betty and all of you.
Words cannot express the beautiful kind hearted most lovable soul/person the world was gifted by Jesus/God/The Holy Spirit having Merv come into our lives. No ego, pride nor vanity could be found in Merv - the closest man I have met to Jesus, walking in His righteousness, humility, gentleness, kindness, meekness, enduring all hardships without complaint, wonderfully providing for his Family unceasingly,faithful to his Wife to the end,loving and caring for Mrs Lyons, always there for people assisting them,and in particular, myself as a Mother when my Children were infants in Merv's Chemist in QBN.
Merv, would you have such and such for this complaint?
It was never a problem to you Merv, during your extremely busy day, using your 'Gifts' that Jesus/God gave you, to provide a 'solution' that was safe for my grown up Children (then infants) to use. You were so generous and kind reassuring me (and other Mothers) back in the 90's with our infants.
You never ceased to amaze me with your kind loving heart, your intelligence that Jesus/God gave you, (every talent skill and innovation used), for the good of others and in particular Mothers and Children.
The last time I saw you, was at a relative's funeral and I suggested you take a break and go on a holiday (a couple of years ago).
"I cant do that because I am caring for my Wife" - it was totally out of the question for you to consider going on a holiday Merv yet you deserved a holiday for being the best Husband, Father, GrandFather and Great Grandfather including not to mention your long life assisting others in need.
You will now enjoy that holiday Merv - up in Heaven with Jesus/God/The Holy Spirit and our Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
I will pray Jesus' Divine Mercy Chaplet to Him for you to enter directly into Heaven with no stops Merv! And..ask our Heavenly Mother Mary for Her loving Holy intercession.
We always leave it too late to visit those of whom we love.
