Fargo, N.D. - Meta Bro, 91, of Fargo, died Thursday December 18, 2003 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, N.D. Meta Holscher was born on November 13, 1912 to Charles and Emma (Lehman) Holscher on the family farm near Wecota, S.D. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota. The family moved to Cresbard in 1915 where she grew up went to school. Surrounded by a loving family and lifelong friends, her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal savior began to develop and put down deep roots. After graduating from Cresbard High School in 1930, she worked in Minneapolis and later Chicago. In Chicago, she met her future husband, Walter G. Bro. They were later married on June 4, 1943, in Los Angeles, Calif., just prior to Walter's 3 years of military service overseas during WWII. Following the war, they moved to Burbank, Calif. After raising her family, Meta enrolled in college to realize a lifelong ambition. She graduated from nurse's training in 1969. She worked as a nurse in the San Fernando Valley area for ten years caring for both newborns and the elderly. Her greatest satisfaction was caring for the elderly in nursing homes. She and Walter moved to Sun City, Calif., in 1978. Following Walter's retirement Meta traveled to many places around the world and experienced many different adventures. She always took Jesus' advice in Luke 12:22-31 to heart in whatever she did. She always tried to be the light of Jesus to those she met along the way. Walter died in 1979. Meta moved to Aberdeen, S.D., in 1980. During her retirement, she lived in Aberdeen, Arizona, California, Hawaii and finally moved to Fargo in 1988. She entered Rosewood on Broadway in 1997. Her childhood in the Cresbard-Wecota area, her family, her childhood friends and especially her faith in Jesus as her Savior were the foundation for her entire life. She is survived by her son, Walter C. (Glenda) Bro, Fargo, N.D.; and her daughter Elaine (Jim) Elliott, Glendale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Ryan and Kevin Bro; Deena, Jordan and Gabielle Elliott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Charles and Emma; brothers, Alfred and Erick; sisters, Esther and Agnes.
