It's still painful to think about this tragedy but so heartwarming to see how deeply he is missed. Love to the family.

Micah's bright smile gave light on the darkest night;
Micah's generosity and kindness enveloped those feeling sad and lost;
Micah's quick wit provided laughter even when you felt defeated;
Micah's intelligence made positive change to institutions that did not even know they had problems;
Micah's many passions (music, nature, teaching, science) enriched the lives of so many people;
Micah's immense love for his family and friends never faltered; and
All that (and much more) was our beloved Micah and may God protect his precious soul for eternity. Micah, we all miss you so much.
With all our love and heartfelt condolences, Gretchen, Peter, Teddy & Enzo Kim

It's very hard to believe that you aren't with us anymore. In reflecting on our memories together, I realized how often our lives crossed paths at Hunter. Thank you for being a light in all of those memories. I'll remember you as a kind, friendly and genuine soul who was easy to be around and welcomed everyone. We'll miss you Micah

i met micah on tumblr many many years ago. we became quick friends and he helped me through some very difficult periods in my life, and i hopefully did the same for him. there was a time i considered him my best friend in the whole world. i´ll never forget when my mom & i first met micah and his mom michelle in person on our trip to NYC. i love u micah. we hadn´t spoken in years and years and years but clearly you impacted so many lives the same way you impacted mine all those years ago. despite not having spoken in so long i never stopped thinking about you and feeling so endlessly grateful for the time we had together.

im sending so much love to micah´s family and friends grieving in this painful time.

i will never forget you micah. i am so proud of you and im so sorry.

Sending deep sympathy and condolences to dear Micah's family. Such a loss is being felt in our hearts . Miach was such a gifted student and being Micah's teacher for 4th grade at PEARLS Hawthorne was a great year to remember. He will be missed but is leaving great memories of a wonderful student. Micah was one of my best and brightest students at Pearls. An integral part of our Science Olympiad Teams success right from the start. This newspaper clipping has been hanging in my room ever since and will continue to remind me of the pride I have for my students especially Micah who continued in the field of science and made an impact on so many students he taught. You have my deepest condolences.

The wind blew and the light of one magnificent candle went out. In our staff meeting we asked teachers to share their ideas about how we could make adjustments to make upcoming lessons more culturally responsive and Micah´s response was "find Guided Reading books that emphasize unconditional self-love; include graphics/resources for science that are not white-centric (seriously, look up clipart for science......)"

This is just one example of how Micah nurtured and empowered the voices of our students through science. Every time he spoke, his thoughts and convictions were always student-centered and focused. Our scholars loved his science class and during remote learning, parents often shared that his science videos were their child´s favorite part of the remote learning day. Micah deeply impacted the lives of our students and teachers at Central Brooklyn Ascend Lower School and his spirit will be missed. We share our grief, love and condolences with his beloved family and we will always speak his name.

I knew Micah from PEARLS Hawthorne school and although many years have passed. I will still remember how great of a person he was and was certainly not viewed as the genuine person he was at the time. I wish we were closer back then. I will never forget our 5th grade trip to a recycling center and his mom brought his little sister maya along the trip. Everyone was so happy Micah was happy... Sending my condolences. You will be missed.

Micah made a difference in the lives of so many. Intellectually and socially gifted, he could fill a room with positive light and energy just by being there. He gave so much and expressed profound gratitude for all that came to him. He took nothing for granted. It was a privilege to know him, even for a short time and I will never forget him.

I knew Micah through Hunter College where I did not get to know him as well as I would have liked. He left a lasting impression of kindess and empathy to me during one of my lowest points and his impact will always last. Fly High

Micah remains one of the most incredible and impactful people I ever met. He was incredibly gifted in intellect and in life. A gem to Hunter College and the Yalow Honors Scholar Program, he was a natural mentor, leader, and cheer leader to all- he lifted so many up and inspired a generation of friends.

This is a horrible horrible shock. I knew Micah briefly at school where he was a leadership figure to me and my peers. Though I didn´t know him well, he left a lasting impression of kindness, acceptance, and genuine vulnerability at a time in my life that I (and many others) felt scared and uncomfortable. So much love to his family for this awful loss.

Micah was a sweet and wonderful friend. I will never forget bonding at work as student ambassadors at Hunter College. It was always a treat to run into Micah on the skywalk and chat. I only regret that we didn´t talk more after the pandemic began. I wish we could hang out once more. He will be missed dearly.

I only knew Micah as a peer and fellow dorm resident in college, but his kindness and patience was clear as day even in casual conversations. I'll always remember him as a grounded, down-to-earth person, and I hope his memory can bring solace to his loved ones during this time of grief.
