Mich Lukach Jr. "Buddy" Mich Lukach, Jr., passed away Nov. 3, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lingering illness. He was born in McDowell County, W.Va., on Nov. 4, 1933. He served in the Korean War from Nov. 10, 1953, till Nov. 10, 1955. He retired from the First Baptist Church of Kingsport in 1991. Preceding him in death was his father, Mick Lukach, W.Va.; his mother, Betty Branson and stepfather, Lloyd Branson; and sister, Helen Elliott, of Blountville. Survivors include his wife Peggy; sons, Danny Lukach and wife, Kandy, of Abingdon, Va., and Steve Barr and wife, Shannon, of Knoxville; two daughters, Teresa Hartgrove and husband, Wayne, Mt. Carmel, Tenn., and Debbie Jeffers and husband, Larry, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Patrick Barr and wife, Alicia, of Sevierville, Tenn., Scotty Jeffers and Lesha Gray, April Anderson and Paul, Bristol; great-grandchildren, Summer Jeffers and Alex Anderson; sisters, Sandra Sproles and Sylvia McConnell; one brother, Jack Lukach; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call any time at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at the VA Mountain Home Cemetery, with Robert Cole officiating. Special thanks goes out to special daughter-in-law, Shannon, to special friend, Jimmy Bradley, and special brother-in-law, Jack Barr for their kindness and help. Special thanks also to Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
